PLTC Juniors

Introduction

PLTC has a thriving junior section. As of 1st April 2014, the club had almost 170 junior and minis on its books. Throughout the year the club offers a wide range of coaching, team tennis, social tennis, family nights and parties for juniors and minis.

Coaching

Coaching is available throughout the week from Vale Tennis Academy coaches. PLTC Head Coach, and Vale Tennis Academy Director, is based at PLTC.  For more details of current coaching courses visit our coaching section.

Saturday Junior Mornings

These runs most Saturdays throughout the year, including the school holidays. The sessions start at 9.30 am for tots (ages 3-4), 10.00 am for minis (age 5-10) and 11.00 am for juniors (age 11+).  Sessions cost £1 for members and £2 for non-members.  While the sessions are running, parent volunteers normally open the kitchen and serve bacon rolls, teas and coffees and the bar is open for other drinks and snacks.

Holiday Tennis Camps

These run throughout the summer and winter school holidays.  Visit the coaching section for more details.

Team & Social Tennis

Junior Tennis Teams ranging from 8 & Under to 18 & Under, take part in South Wales summer and winter leagues.  All juniors and minis playing members are eligible to play for the teams and it’s a great way for youngsters to develop their tennis through friendly competitive team competition.

Junior Social Tennis events are held throughout the year including events at Easter, in the Summer, Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas. Throughout 2014, the club is planning to extend the junior social events programme to include more events for the minis and juniors and will be reintroducing an end of summer tournament party & BBQ.

Family Club Nights

These run every Friday throughout the year and summer nights in particular are packed with families, safe in the knowledge that children can play safely on the lawn and courts and parents can socialise on the decking, at the bar or enjoy social tennis. As from April 2014, the club will be serving food on the last Friday of each month. New bar teams are kicking off in April 2014, so the club is expecting winter club nights to increase in popularity.

Social Activities

Junior Parties are traditionally held at Halloween and Christmas. The club also runs a fantastic Bonfire & Fireworks Celebration, which is extremely popular and in 2013 had a record breaking 400+ people attending. In 2014, the club will be reintroducing a special BBQ and party at the end of July to celebrate the end of the clubs junior championships and new events will also be added to the annual programme so watch this space.

Junior Trips are on the horizon so again watch this space for more details.
